JOB  SHADOWING  in  Riihimäki

TIMETABLE

MONDAY 10TH OCTOBER 8.10 - 9.15   Transfer by train from Helsinki to Riihimäki 9.15 - 9.30   Walk from the train station of Riihimäki,  to the Riihimäen Lukio Secondary School 9.30 - 10.00   Meet the Erasmus+ coordinators in Riihimäen Lukio,  Maarit Jarho and  Kristiina Laaksonen and introduction of the 4 teachers from HERNANI BHI carrying out the Job Shadowing programme in different secondary schools in Riihimäki.   10.00 - 10.50 Our school´s, Hernani BHI, information delivery as well as general information about our town Hernani  and Donostia (the city nearby), as a European Capital of Culture 2016. Planning and organization of the visits, interventions and observations to undertake during the week in  three different Secondary schools in Riihimäki: Riihimäen Lukio, Pohjolanrinteen  Koulu and Karan Koulu. 10.50 - 11.00 Transfer by car to Riihimäki Pohjolanrinteen Koulu´s Secondary School. 11.00 - 12.45 Guided visit through the 1st floor of  Pohjolanrinteen  Koulu school with the School Principal Taina Koistinen. Direct observation of school facilities (Library, canteen, fitness Hall, Teachers´ room, Hall, ICT classroom, Labs, Art and Craft classroom, Home Economics class,...), use of these classrooms, and gathering information in situ of organization aspects, management, school maintenance, students´ and teachers´  timetables, groups distributions, classrooms, subjects, kind of furniture and its ergonomy, etc. 12.45 - 13.00 Eating in the Poholanrinteen Koulu School´s dining hall 13.00 - 13.45 Guided visit through the Main Floor of Pohjolanrinteen  Koulu, again with the School Principal  Taina Koistinen. Direct observation and information collection from the teachers about tools and teaching methodologies  which were being used in their different  sessions, History, Finnish, Music, Art and Craft and English with special needs students. 14.45 - 14.00 Multimedia presentation in English to some special needs students. This presentation aims to introduce where we come from, our origin , culture, traditions, sports, etc. 14.00 - 15.00 Collection of digital??? information in the teachers´ room and arrangement for wednesday´s visit and information gathering of different subjects and classes already arranged during the morning session with the Principal and different teachers, P.E, English, Maths and Special Needs teacher. 15.00 - 15.15 Walk from Pohjolarinteen Koulu´s School to    the train station of Riihimäki 15.25 - 16.30 Transfer by train from Riihimäki to Helsinki 16.30 - 18.00 Collected data and information processing: Picture and video  sharing in Google Drive, analysis and reflexion of the experience and planification  for the following day (Questions, doubts, additional information  about a specific aspect…)

TUESDAY 11TH OCTOBER 8.40 - 9.30   Transfer by train from Helsinki to Riihimäki 9.30 - 9.40 Walk from the train station of Riihimäki,  to the Riihimäen Lukio Secondary School 9.40 - 9.45 Walk  to  Karan Koulu´s Secondary School 9.45 - 11.30 Visit to Karan Koulu´s Secondary School. Interview with the trade union representative in Karan Koulu, Aneli Rantamäki, who has provided us information about school , as well as information about the education system in Finland, working conditions and teachers´ training in different education levels. This school was carrying out  the “Phenomenon Based learning” methodology during this week  for the first time. Observation of school facilities (library, canteen, Gym, Teachers´ room, ICT classroom, labs, Art and Craft classroom, Home Economics classroom???…) and the use of this classrooms. 11:30 -  11.35 Walk from  Karan Koulu to Riihimmäen Lukio 11.35 - 11.45 Eating in the Riihimäen Lukio School´s dining hall 11.45 - 12.55 Transfer from Riihimäen Lukio to one of the Erasmus + coordinator´s  house, Kristina Laaksonen, to introduce us to  customs and culture of Finnish society. 12.55 - 13.30 Coffee-break at Kristina Laaksonen´s home, informal chat to collect interesting information and share education experiences.                     Transfer by car to the train station in Riihimäki 13.30 - 14.35 Transfer by train from Riihimäki to Helsinki 14.35 - 16.30 Collected data and information processing: Picture and video  sharing in Google Drive, analysis and reflexion of the experience and planification  for the following day (Questions, doubts, additional information  about a specific aspect…) WEDNESDAY  12TH  OCTOBER 8.40 - 9.30   Transfer by train from Helsinki to Riihimäki 9.30 - 9.45 Walk from the train station of Riihimäki,  to the Poholanrinteen Koulu´s Secondary School 9.45 - 10.00   Interviews with teachers and planning of different  observation to be held in different classes during the day: Art and Craft, English, P.E., maths, Health Education,KIVA... 10.00 - 11.00   We have been offered an Art and Craft class with Kathie, where we have taken  the students´ role and experience the education system in this subject. Each of us  have been asked to create a product and while doing so and after finishing, we have been asking about learning times, minimus in a subject, assessments tools and ways of doing it,... 11.00 - 11.15  Coffee-break and informal information collection 11.15 - 12.00   Two teachers have been observing a maths class in Year 7 (1º ESO) and two teachers an English class in Year 8 ( 2º ESO) with Maya. Observation and intervention in the classroom. 12.00 - 12.20   Eating in the Poholanrinteen Koulu´s dining hall 12.20 - 13.00 Guided visit of the town facilities which are also used for P.E. in  Pohjolarinteen koulo. Visit conducted by the P.E. teacher who is at the same time one of the coordinators of the KIVA project and school deputy principal 13.00 - 13.30 The Signing of  the Erasmus+ agreements and working certificates by the Principal of the school Taina Koistinen 13.30 - 14.15 Direct observation in Year 8 (2º ESO). A Health Education class with the teacher and principal  Taina Koistinen. 14.15 - 14.30 Coffe-break and farewell at  Pohjolarinteen koulo. 14.30 - 15.00 Walk from Pohjolarinteen Koulu´s School to the train station of Riihimäki 15.25 - 16.30 Transfer by train from Riihimäki to Helsinki 16.30 - 18.00 Collected data and information processing: Picture and video  sharing in Google Drive, analysis and reflexion of the experience and planification  for the following day (Questions, doubts, additional information  about a specific aspect…)

THURSDAY  13TH  OCTOBER 8.40 - 9.30   Transfer by train from Helsinki to Riihimäki 9.30 - 9.45 Walk from the train station of Riihimäki,  to Riihimäen Lukio Secondary School 9.45 - 10.00   Interviews with teachers and planning of different  observation to be held in different classes during the day: Art and Craft, English, P.E., maths, Health Education,KIVA... 10.00 - 10.15 Interview with the counseling in Riihimäen Lukio in order to gather  information about students´  future possibilities after leaving High school.
